The Magic of Finishing

If you follow me on social media you have likely heard me talk about the power of affirmations.  Affirmations are mantras you say to your self that reflect beliefs you don’t quite have, but would like to have about your self, the world, or our life.

Many years ago I began “installing” an affirmation that read “I finish what I start.”  It came about because I was tired of looking around and seeing unfished projects in my house.  You know how it is when you start a project you take out tools, supplies, and other necessary contents of your house.  Then, you get distracted, abandon that project, and leave EVERYTHING out to step over.  Time marches on, and you get even more distracted, and that project remains unfinished, contributing to chaos and feeling overwhelmed.

I finally reached the point where I just could not stand it anymore and decided I was going to train my brain to become a different person- someone who finishes what she starts.

I wrote that mantra in my notebook every morning and repeated it all day long in my head.  I found that this practice gave me the nudge to spend just a few more moments on individual tasks during the day so I could actually finish.  Completely finish.

I was so surprised to find that this made me feel so much better!  Accomplished, in control, and more of the kind of person I aspire to be.  FINISHING became addicting and I realized I was excited to find new ways in which I could apply this habit. It was relevant to my exercise programs, the books I start, the tasks on my todo list, and so much more.

In this week’s podcast I’m sharing all the scoop on this concept of FINISHING.  You know that I always like to leave you with actionable steps you can incorporate right away. You’ll walk away from the episode with a clear vision of how you can become someone who FINISHES what she starts.
